There are still lots of contenders for the Oscars’ top awards. Who, then, is likely to win in 2021?

2021 Oscar nominations are now unveiled, we know who precisely is in the running for the most prestigious award in the industry. We can make predictions about possible winners based on these nominees as well.

The 93rd Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, April 25 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. This is going to be a great night and we have plenty of good contenders in the fight.

Oscar 2021 Predictions: Best Picture

  • Nomadland
  • Promising Young Woman
  • Minari
  • The Trial of the Chicago 7
  • Mank
  • Judas and the Black Messiah
  • The Father
  • Sound of Metal

Who we think will win the award? We’ve been tilting for Nomadland. It’s made the biggest hype pre-Oscars and got the Best Film for drama award at the Golden Globes.

Oscar 2021 Predictions: Best Director

  • Chloé Zhao (Nomadland)
  • Thomas Vinterberg (Another Round)
  • Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman)
  • Lee Isaac Chung (Minari)
  • David Fincher (Mank)

Who we think will win the award? We’re pushed to decide between some of these, but Chloé Zhao should get it. Zhao landed the Golden Globes’ Best Director gong, and an Oscars win will crown an excellent year for her.

Oscar 2021 Predictions: Best Actor

  • Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom)
  • Steven Yeun (Minari)
  • Gary Oldman (Mank)
  • Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal)
  • Anthony Hopkins (The Father)

Who we think will win the award? Chadwick Boseman hands down. As good as the other four other nominees are in their respective movies, the late actor looks like a winner for this award. Boseman’s posthumous Golden Globes win makes this easy for us to pick. He did a marvelous job in the movie.

Oscar 2021 Predictions: Best Actress

  • Frances McDormand (Nomadland)
  • Viola Davis (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom)
  • Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman)
  • Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman)
  • Andra Day (The United States vs Billie Holiday)

Who we think will win the award? We think Frances McDormand will come out as a winner. Surprisingly, McDormand lost in the Golden Globes’ equivalent category, but he did a brilliant job and we still think McDormand will win the Oscar.

Oscar 2021 Predictions: Best Supporting Actor

  • Lakeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah)
  • Leslie Odom Jr. (One Night in Miami)
  • Sacha Baron Cohen (The Trial of the Chicago 7)
  • Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah)
  • Paul Raci (Sound of Metal)

Who we think will win the award? We think Daniel Kaluuya is a brilliant contender for the award. Judas and the Black Messiah has created a lot of buzz in 2021, and Kaluuya’s brilliant performance – which is coupled with his Golden Globes win, it makes it easy for us to pick.

Oscar 2021 Predictions: Best Supporting Actress

  • Amanda Seyfried (Mank)
  • Olivia Colman (The Father)
  • Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm)
  • Glenn Close (Hillbilly Elegy)
  • Yuh-Jung Youn (Minari)

Who we think will win the award? Olivia Colman will come out as a clear winner. The Broadchurch and The Favourite star is a favorite on the awards round, so Colman should ensure her another and second Academy Award.

Oscar 2021 Predictions: Best Animated Feature

  • Soul
  • Onward
  • Over the Moon
  • Wolfwalkers
  • A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon

Who we think will win the award? Soul is a favorite in this category. Pixar’s version of the afterlife, and the process it has made on human characters in times, Especially with a Golden Globe win, I’m sure it will secure the Oscar as well.

Oscar 2021 Predictions: Best Score

  • Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (Soul)
  • James Newton Howard (News of the World)
  • Emile Mosseri (Minari)
  • Terence Blanchard (Da 5 Bloods)
  • Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (Mank)

Who we think will win the award? Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won the last oscar more than 10 years ago, and they might get their second Academy Award for their score on Soul. A Golden Globes Best Score success only makes this win more likely as well.
